Bumble Bees~

I've been a busy bee...while my mom was in the hospital with knee surgery I had time on my hands to do some stitching...so this is what I have done so far. I did the bee because we have several living on our fruit trees pollinating them...

I found that I liked doing my squares according to theme...part of the blocks are more food and kitchen blessing oriented...while others are flowers, garden, garden tool oriented.
But I'm working on squares now~that are family and kid focused...no real plan...I just stitch as I get ideas!
I've also made a list of the most predominant things I feel blessed for and then go from there. Sometimes I look at a stitch pattern, or look at a button and freehand the design, the outline first is stitched and then I stitch the inside...it seems a little easier that way. But I'm now in love with french knots because of our stitching friend Alison over at http://needleandthreadadventures.blogspot.com/
YOu've got to visit her...she does amazing things all with french knots....I ooh and aaaah...so will you!
Blessings to you!

Breakfast Blessing

Good morning. One blessing I've thought over is making breakfast for our kids when they were growing up. They loved pancakes and loved the smell of them cooking on the griddle.

Our boys would go outside to do chores, early in the morning before school...gathering eggs, throwing hay to the cows and sheep...making sure everything was watered..
then they would come in for breakfast. I loved making pancakes for them..it was hot, easy and quick. I would always say a prayer over them as I washed their dishes after they had left for school. I still pray for them. I guess a mother never quits praying!

I used an old crockery bowl that has somehow become my favorite. I still use the bowl, now my parents are living with us and the kids are away at college, so it gets used quite frequently...just not for pancakes. But it gives me happy memories looking at it.
Blessings,
Debbie

Let's Eat Cake!

This week we were blessed to have SEVERAL college kids stay with us before they travel overseas on a wonderful Music/Worship Team Missions trip! So of course with all those wonderful kids~someone needs to feed them! And what better food than cupcakes...and yes there were healthy options too~but...
WHO can resist sprinkles? Or frosting? Or a cherry on top?
A piece of cake~a cup of coffee~life is GOOD!

Sum, Sum, Summertime...

Here at the farm we plant Watermelon! Yummmmmy! Did you know? The hotter the weather, the sweeter the watermelon. It takes roughly 90 days from planting a watermelon seed for it to grow into a ripe little melon!

God created seedtime and harvest....for us to eat and sustain ourselves....and it is amazing to watch the little seed sprout very small at first and then grow into something wonderful. I'm blessed when I see this process over and over again. It reminds me of God's goodness to us.

We have also planted yellow meated watermelons and they are incredibly sweet! It would be like a brown or white egg....they look different...but they are both eggs and taste like eggs.
So do different varieties of melons...they may look different but both of them are DELICIOUS!
BLESSINGS,
DEBBIE

My Girl~High Heels

Little Sissy~gets to me....the day she was born I held her in my arms and swooned! Her little feet~one day would wear high heels~ but right them they fit so tiny in my hand. She just got to me. Lots of tears, lots of laughter, now I'm enjoying her again....she is home from college.
Sometimes I close my eyes and think of proms, homecomimg...endless soccer games....broken heartedness, learning to put makeup on...teaching her the importance of integrity....NEVER walking away from God who we are blessed to serve, that family is very important, keeping your word:
and I would love to do it all over again....for this one...she gets to me!

Blessings,
Debbie

Garden Tools

Hello again! So glad you stopped by for a visit....I am loving visiting your blogs and seeing all the creative ideas you are stitching. Once you start you ask yourself is 100 little squares enough? I stitch and then I think of more and more things that bless me...

Garden tools, old rusty, very much used, chipped paint...these are the best.

I love old tools...except that when they rust...they usually don't work anymore!! Big smile. I like the rusty look but hubby seems to be bothered when they don't work!
Blessings,
Debbie

Picket fences, overflowing flowers...

Picket fences...overflowing flowers, roses, honeysuckle...all make for a farmhouse cottage garden. We've been so blessed to live in the country. We are in reality only 35 minutes from Palm Springs. Up in the mountains....sometimes we seem so far away from the hustle and bustle of the city....
but not really. We chose to live further away...to make the daily drive. It would be nice to live close to everything...just a few minutes away...
But we wanted to raise our kids in a rural area...wanted them
to do daily chores
see animals being born
eat fresh eggs
wanted to teach them to work
plant things then experience the joy of eating them...

see the first signs of spring when little green buds pierce through the dirt straining to reach the sunlight!
All these things we wanted our kids to know about...
that there is more to life than what they see indoors...
I wanted the outdoors to call
their names...

I'm missing my kids (big smile) now that they are gone to college, one is married, one is going to Brazil for a music missions trip...my little soccer poopsie is going to be home for the summer...
But guess who GETS to do their chores now that they are gone? HAHAHA....YES I MISS THEM!
Blessings,
Debbie

And of course every farmhouse needs a barn!

Little wooly fuzzy lambs

Lambs....

Well look here...these are a few of our sheep (Tunis sheep)they have reddish brown faces instead of dark black or brown...it is their breed color. Their little lambs are all reddish brown and adorable!
But for my little sampler I did black faces...I thought most people would wonder why...if I did reddish brown...

How are you coming along? I am enjoying this sooooo much!
blessings,
Debbie
